What happens if an employee calls in sick?
It depends on what the absence duration predictor indicates.
Expect shortly Sickness Absence
- We as Occupational Health Service taking no action.
- You maintain contact with the sick employee yourself.
- Make clear agreements about the work.
- Can't figure it out? Then you can brainstorm with the employability coach .
Expect long Sickness Absence
- On day 8, the employability coach will contact you as the employer.
- Together, we will determine how much guidance you need.
- Little experience with Sickness Absence or the Wet verbetering poortwachter Then we will guide you more intensively.
- Do you already know how it works? Then we stay more in the background.
- You can always contact the employability coach yourself.
Around day 14
- The occupational physician's practice assistant schedules an intake with the sick employee.
- He or she may also request medical information.
- Goal: quickly get a clear picture of the reason for the Sickness Absence .
After the intake
The practice nurse can — in consultation with the occupational physician — advise the following:
- An intervention (for example, a treatment or guidance)
- Adjusted work or different working hours
- An opinion from the company doctor, if necessary
From that moment on, the company doctor determines the next steps.
