Role Employability Coach & Optional Case Management Module

The employability coach: the link in sustainable employability

We regularly receive questions about the role of our employability coach (IC). And rightly so, because this professional plays an important role in assisting employers with Sickness Absence as well as strengthening employability.

Our employability coach is not there to take over, but to help employers stay in control - practical, involved and knowledgeable about the Wet verbetering poortwachter.

What exactly does the employability coach do?

Our employability coach (IC):

  • Contacts the employer directly as soon as they indicate it at the time of sick call through our online query.
  • Contacts no later than Day 8 if Sickness Absence is expected to last longer than six weeks.
    • During this Sickness Absence intake, the IC identifies the employer's counseling needs.
    • Employers with little experience in absence management will receive additional support.
    • Step by step, the IC teaches employers to take more ownership of the process.
  • Furthermore, the IC follows the legal and practical moments in the absenteeism process:
  • Around week 8: alignment on the Plan of Action.
  • Around week 26: a file check for completeness and use of interventions. If anything is missing, the IC contacts the employer to discuss what is needed.
  • Around week 49: evaluation of the first year of illness, including determining guidance for the second year.
  • Around week 86: discussion of WIA application.

In between, the employability coach always stays in contact, tailored to the needs of the employer. So even between week 8 and week 26 there may be contact if the situation calls for it.

In all cases, a regular contact person is available to you if you want to spar about complicated casuistry or need additional help.

Optional support: the Case Management module

For employers who want more attention and control during Sickness Absence, there is the Case Management module (available from subscription MKB FiT Basis +). This extends the IC's deployment with additional guidance and checkpoints.

This module provides the employer with additional support for:

  • Preparing the draft gatekeeper document Plan of Action;
  • Work absenteeism coaching, including a brief check for early WIA;
  • Preparing the draft gatekeeper document First Year Evaluation;
  • A check for timely deployment of Track 2 within the reintegration process.

Together, we ensure that absenteeism not only complies with the rules, but also really contributes to sustainable employability.

This add-on module costs €18.85 per employee per year.
