Boost your brain and your business: Discover the secrets of a brain-friendly work environment
"Learn how to optimize your company's office design and operations for increased productivity, creativity and well-being."
A well-designed office environment has a positive impact on the well-being and productivity of your employees. Recent (neuro)scientific research has shown that a work environment that is carefully designed and decorated with attention to acoustics, details, colors, green plants, lighting, materials and layout can reduce employee stress and fatigue. Attention to this has become even more important with the increased perceived workload among a growing group of employees and its effects on performance and Sickness Absence. In addition, such an office environment can increase employee concentration and creativity, contributing to higher productivity. With the presence of plants, employees in an earlier study by Zorg van de Zaak and WUR indicated that they felt more satisfied overall with the workplace and experienced better concentration, noise reduction and privacy. An employee who feels comfortable will generally be more motivated to perform work.
How are you shaping hybrid working within your company now that your employees are back in the office more often after the corona pandemic, and what aspects are you including in the design?
Most workplaces are not set up to best perform tasks requiring deep focus. Or concentration areas are present but too limited or unattractive. As a result, the design of physical office space, often turns out to be counterproductive actually making the performance of certain tasks even more challenging. We think much more attention should be paid to brain-friendliness when designing or optimizing corporate workplaces. Especially since many organizations are looking for ways to reduce perceived workload. By providing opportunities to restore focus and energy, an important human need is met.
At a minimum, a good employer fulfills the legal obligations. An excellent employer also invests in employees, in a psychologically and emotionally healthy work environment, in sincere attention and increasing commitment. Discover how a brain-friendly work environment can contribute to this.
