26-week forecast when resigning

What does this involve?
Do you want to submit a resignation request due to long-term illness? Then the UWV requires a 26-week prognosis from a company doctor. This opinion provides insight into whether your employee will recover sufficiently within 26 weeks to do his or her own or modified work.

Note: The UWV can deviate from the company doctor's advice and decide otherwise themselves.

How does it work?

Before the consultation

  • First, discuss with your employee that a letter of resignation is pending and that the UWV requires a medical prognosis.
  • Explain that the employee will receive a call for an interview with the company doctor and the purpose of this.
  • The appointment is with your own company doctor. If this is not possible, we engage another company doctor. This is only possible with the consent of the employee, so that access to the medical file is possible.

During the consultation hour

The company physician assesses:

  • Is recovery for own work expected within 26 weeks?
  • Will the workload capacity within this period increase, decrease or remain the same from the WIA examination?

👉 The advice is an estimate, not a guarantee. The UWV ultimately determines whether dismissal is approved.

After the consultation

Both you and the employee receive the company doctor's recommendation.
